DESCRIPTION:First responders encounter traumatic events and other critical incidents daily. Without proper support and coping skills\, these occupational exposures can result in stress injuries.  Developing awareness\, normalizing common responses\, and practicing healthy self-care strategies are essential in the treatment of trauma. \nJoin us as Richard Dawson\, PhD\, LMFT\, LPC\, discusses psychologic first-aid for first-responders\, including how to watch for trauma symptoms\, as well as the treatment of trauma. Dr. Dawson will also provide information about the Summa Traumatic Stress Center and the treatment services they provide regarding traumatic stress. \nMatt Askea\, LPC and Lt. with Akron Fire\, will talk about normalizing the common responses to traumatic stress and appropriate self-care actions to minimize distress and promote well-being. \nThis is a Webinar.
